Booked SM Preservations to look at a damp issue based on the good reviews. Stephen really took his time to have a thorough look inside and outside the property. He was very honest in telling us how we could fix the issue ourselves so wasn’t even going to get a paid job out of the visit, yet he still took the time to explain everything really clearly so we completely understood. Don’t normally write reviews but rare to get such a good a honest service.

Stephen is a true professional and helped me with my first property after detecting signs of damp. Despite being so busy (which is unsurprising given how good his work is!) he was really accommodating and came in to check out the damp issues and provide suggestions. He ended up coating out wall with a special resin to prevent from damp in the future and also gave the added benefit of extra insulation! Couldn’t recommend Stephen enough – diligent, thorough and truly helpful.

Tried to leave a review earlier but didn’t seem to work, Just wanted to thank Stephen for his survey with the dampness issue when we were looking to purchase this property back in June of 2023, 6 months have gone by and we’ve now got the keys but this was a major deciding factor on us purchasing or not, Thanks to Stephens Report we were able to make a decision that we could afford the repairs quoted to us, and we’ve just been working through documenting all the other issues that need repairing in the property over the last 6 months but we have the keys and will be looking to get everything sorted asap!

I requested SM Preservations to address a damp problem in an external wall of my property. They carried out a detailed inspection and identified the cause as cracking in the external render that was permitting rain penetration. They repaired the cracks, removed the damp-affected internal plaster, installed a dampproof membrane, and replastered the wall. The team from SM arrived punctually, were very respectful of my property and its contents, and carried out the work to a very good standard. I am very satisfied with the result and would fully recommend SM for carrying out work of this nature.
